At this point I’m working on the bones of the site, learning the technology, so even though it looks quiet as far as the content, a lot is going on here. I’m learning about WordPress themes, menus, widgets and have about 2 hours of lectures to go in the course I’m taking. Hoping to start adding some content around Christmas time!
This WordPress site has a dual purpose. First I am learning about the WordPress platform, which is so popular and second, I am learning more about the different forms of historical/period fencing.
I’m a member of the http://sca.org/ in the Kingdom of Ealdormere. I quote the description of the Society from the website “The Society for Creative Anachronism is an international organization dedicated to researching and re-creating the arts and skills of pre-17th-century Europe. Our “Known World” consists of 20 kingdoms, with over 30,000 members residing in countries around the world. Members, dressed in clothing of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, attend events which feature tournaments, royal courts, feasts, dancing, various classes & workshops, and more”
My SCA name is Ceolwyn æt Fealhdune – a woman from pre-1066 Anglo-Saxon (before the Norman Invasion). My heraldry is a modification of my real world family’s heraldry, the original having a red field instead of the purple. Traditionally Dutch Heraldry is quite plain, so I like the cheerful twist that this adds to it with the purple although some people think I look like I am from the Kingdom of Calontir.
